In 30 seconds
Five lessons: choose the market, adapt the script, pick voice or subtitles, produce, and review with a native speaker. Do the task at the end of each one and you finish with a localized video.
Lesson 1 · Choose the market and the languages
Decide who the video is for before you decide the language. A market is a country and an audience, and it may need a specific accent or script. Task: write one sentence naming the market and the viewer.
Lesson 2 · Adapt the script
A translation keeps the words; localization keeps the effect. Mark what must change for the market: examples, units, idioms and calls to action. Task: annotate your script with three changes per page.
Lesson 3 · Voice or subtitles
Choose by audience habit, platform and the speaker’s role. The guide on dubbing vs subtitling gives the rule of thumb. Task: pick one option and write why in two lines.
Lesson 4 · Produce
Brief the voice or the subtitler with the final cut, a glossary and the platform. Task: assemble the brief using the studio’s checklist.
Lesson 5 · Review
A native speaker checks meaning, timing and tone. You check that the names, numbers and links are right. Task: run a review with a list of five questions and fix what comes back.
What you end up with
A localized video, a glossary for the next one and a brief you can reuse for each new language.
